What counts as a "small meal" when talking about dieting?

Ppl say to eat throughout the day to keep your metabolism going. My suggestion would be to eat three smaller meals (200-400 calories) and three light snacks throughout the day. It just depends on the amount of calories you want to consume throughout the day. For me, I try to eat about 1400 calories a day, so I have 200 cals at breakfast, 150 cal snack, 300 cals at lunch, 150 cal snack, 400 cals for dinner, and 150 cal snack. This keeps me a little under my calorie goal just in case my meals/snacks have a few more calories than listed above.
