My boyfriend said something disturbing and now he's blaming me?

I showed him this pic of all these naked women lying in a circle, it was very staged-looking. i said i wish i knew the story behind the pic. he said "I wish I was the photographer". I said that made me sad. and he said, "well wouldn't you want to? even a little?" and i said "no, a picture is one thing! but being there is another!" He told me I was being obtuse (purposely ignorant and dumb). In the end I had to apologize. Who is in the right?
